Tynedale Hospice at Home has a volunteer management committee who meet bi-monthly. They have varied roles and volunteer their time to help manage the Hospice. The Chair of our Management Meetings is Christopher Elliot-Newman.

Christine MitchellHospice DirectorChristine's role is to provide leadership for the Charity and take responsibility for its management and administration within the strategic and accountability framework established by the Board of Trustees.
With the Chair, to enable the Board to fulfil its duties and responsibilities for the proper governance of the Charity. Manages the care services and staff at the Hospice and takes responsibility for their recruitment, training and support. She is also the Registered Manager with The Care Quality Commission

Cathy BatesFundraising & Volunteer Co-ordinatorThis is a varied role with both aspects of the post linking together well to support community involvement.
To manage all elements of volunteering on behalf of our charity, including assessing our organisation’s needs and then meeting those needs through the recruitment, placement and retention of volunteers. To liaise with external organisations like Schools and businesses, to encourage support from volunteers and develop partnerships. Increase the contributions from individuals and groups, by building relationships and exploring new fundraising opportunities.

Lorraine ThompsonOffice ManagerThe Office Manager is responsible for the smooth running of the charity office premises and the carrying out of the administrative functions of Tynedale Hospice at Home. This is a wide-ranging and responsible role requiring strong administrative, financial, IT, organisational and communication skills.

Katharine RussellLead NurseI was delighted to be appointed as Lead Nurse at Tynedale Hospice at Home. I have lived in the Tyne Valley all of my life and am very aware of the excellent service and care the Hospice provides for people living in this area.
Working as Lead Nurse at Tynedale Hospice at Home will give me the opportunity to bring together all the skills I have gained throughout my career.

Janet JacksonBereavement Services CoordinatorJanet is experienced in working with bereaved children. For twelve years she led the chaplaincy team at St Oswald’s Hospice in Gosforth, working with families pre and post bereavement. She has been involved in developing and facilitating one day workshops for children aged 5-16 years. Janet has also prepared children for attendance at funerals. She holds a Diploma in Childhood Bereavement and is an experienced facilitator in training professionals who wish to extend their knowledge about children and bereavement, including medical professionals and teachers.

Carole PlattsShop ManagerI am honoured to have been appointed as manager of the shop in Battle Hill. I will be working with a wonderful team of volunteers and dedicated staff in a role I love, but together knowing we will make a difference in our community.
